Conor McGregor believes he will join Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Floyd Mayweather on billionaire sports star list in three years time
Conor McGregor claims he will join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Floyd Mayweather on the sporting billionaire list within just three years.
The former UFC champion asked for questions from his followers on Twitter as part of a Q&A session.
When quizzed on when he expects to achieve billionaire status, McGregor responded: “35 years of age.”
At 32, it means the Irishman could join an elite list of billionaires by 2024, with Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Mayweather, Messi and Ronaldo already on the sporting rich list.
McGregor has earned more than any other fighter in UFC history since making his debut in 2013 and raked in close to £80million for his 2017 blockbuster with ‘Money’ Mayweather.
Reports also suggest ‘The Notorious’ is on the brink of selling his shares in his ‘Proper No. Twelve’ whiskey company and could rake in as much as £112m for doing so.
McGregor was also asked who he felt his toughest ever opponent in the UFC was, saying: “Nate Diaz. West coast zombie.”
The two men shared a sequel of epic battles in 2016, with Diaz inflicting the first ever defeat of the Irishman’s UFC career, before the scores were levelled at UFC 202 in August.
A trilogy fight has yet to take place more than four years after they last met, but McGregor insisted it will be ‘epic’ when it does take place.
He said: “The trilogy will be of epic proportions when it goes down.
“Nathan, and his fighting styles, are never far from my thoughts throughout my own practices.
“When it happens, I’m ready.”
