John Cena says ‘there is no mathematical way’ he can make WWE return at WrestleMania 37 due to busy acting schedule
John Cena says he will not be returning to WWE for WrestleMania 37.
The 16-time world champion was last seen on WWE television losing to ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36 last year.
Nowadays, Cena’s WWE appearances are sporadic due to his successful acting career, which has taken precedence once more as he is starring in HBO Max series Peacemaker, which is being filmed in Vancouver.
Cena has revealed coronavirus quarantine rules would make it impossible for him to appear at WrestleMania 37 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on April 10 and 11.
He told Sports Illustrated: “Currently, I’m in Vancouver shooting Peacemaker, the series for HBO Max.
“Given the quarantine regulations, if I were to leave Canada, upon return I would have to quarantine for another two weeks.
“Essentially, that would shut production down. Strictly based on the letter of the law right now, there is no logistical way I can be there. We film now until July.”
Reports had claimed WWE were trying to fit Cena into a high-profile match for WrestleMania 37.
However, the 43-year-old insists ‘there is no mathematical way’ he can make WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the year.
Cena added: “It [Peacemaker] is a wonderful episodic show, and it’s an amazing opportunity. It’s a challenge I wanted, and I get to work with awesome people.
