President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited Arlington National Cemetery Wednesday to mark Veterans Day. Following tradition, they laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Before heading to Arlington National Cemetery, Trump issued a proclamation marking the holiday and honoring the nation’s veterans, writing:
“America’s veterans have fought to defend our country, its values, and its interests since the first days of our founding. They have defeated tyrants, eliminated terrorists, and secured freedom at home and abroad. Their courage and fortitude in the face of adversity serve as an example for all Americans.”
The president said that as commander in chief, he has “relentlessly fought to support America’s veterans,” noting the legislation he’s signed addressing veterans’ medical care and other benefits.
