Royal Family news: Meghan faces ‘dilemma’ over new ‘bombshell’ – Harry ‘totally torn’ | Royal | News
Prince Harry and William ‘parking their feelings’ says expert
For the first time since March last year, Harry reunited with his older brother, Prince William, as they said goodbye to their grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh. The brothers were spotted on camera speaking to each other, seemingly putting an end to their ongoing rift.
The Duke of Sussex is understood to have met with Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, following Prince Philip’s funeral in a bid to put an end to the ongoing feud.
It is believed they met at Frogmore Cottage – where Harry and Meghan Markle lived before stepping away from the Firm – and spoke for about two hours.
However, as Harry plans to jet back to the US to his heavily pregnant wife, former royal butler Paul Burrell believes the Duchess of Sussex will be met with a different man.
Mr Burrell told Closer: “His heart is on two different sides of the Atlantic now.
“Meghan will be faced with that dilemma – the bombshell that Harry now feels split in two.
“Meghan will believe that what they’ve done is right – but Harry will be feeling totally torn and so things will now have to change.

Prince William and Harry reunited at Philip’s funeral
“She will have to figure out what their next steps will be.
“Those two – from different worlds – are going to have to work it out to align themselves.”
Harry and William’s reunion has been hailed as the “first step towards healing” but a royal insider warned there was no way “the end of the crisis”.
The source said: “Harry obviously felt outnumbered as there are three of them and only one of him so wanted it to be on his home turf.
“There is no way this is the end of the crisis in their relationships but it’s a good gesture and a nice way to take the first step towards healing.
“William, Kate and Charles all left after about two hours, which was long enough for the process of getting father and brothers talking again to start.”
Prince Philip was buried on Saturday
Prince Philip’s funeral marked the first time Harry had seen his family face-to-face since his explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made several accusations about their time as members of the Royal Family.
They claimed there were conversations about the colour of Archie’s skin before he was born.
Meghan – who did not attend the funeral due to being heavily pregnant – also said she had suicidal thoughts.
Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family and moved to California.

10.30pm update: Harry blasted for expecting royals to ‘welcome’ him
Prince Harry has been blasted by a royal expert for expecting the Royal Family to welcome him “as if nothing has happened”.
Royal biographer Angela Levin said it “doesn’t make sense” for the Duke of Sussex to expect to be welcomed “with open arms” by the royals after “publicly trashing” them.
Harry returned to Britain for the first time since his and Meghan Markle’s Oprah Winfrey interview for Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday.
Ms Levin tweeted: “If someone spends hours publicly trashing his family it doesn’t make sense to expect them to welcome you with open arms as if nothing has happened.”
It has been reported that some members of the Royal Family failed to acknowledge Harry before or during the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.
9pm update: Harry’s visit ‘didn’t go as hoped’ – failed to repair rift
Prince Harry’s return to the UK did not turn out “the way he had hoped” after he failed to repair his rift with Prince Charles, it has been claimed.
A source told the Mirror: “Truth be told, Harry didn’t really know what to expect before he came home, which is why he reached out before seeing everyone.
“He wrote a deeply personal note to his dad to try and set things straight but tensions are still running high and things haven’t exactly ironed out the way he had hoped.
“There had been a kind of unspoken agreement between everyone to park whatever has been on each person’s mind, and solely concentrate on supporting the Queen ahead of Prince Philip’s funeral.
“The feeling inside the camp was that it wasn’t the time nor the place to go over things, especially at such an emotional time for everybody involved.”

7.55pm update: Meghan and Kate ‘both played peacemaker’ with Harry and William
Meghan Markle and Kate “both tried to play peacemaker” with Prince Harry and Prince William, it has been claimed.
A royal source told New magazine before the funeral: “All eyes will be on the brothers when they see each other for the first time.
“No doubt it will be a big moment for them both, but they will likely put all differences to one side for the sake of their grandfather.
“Kate has been instrumental in playing peacemaker with them and as Harry landed in the UK, was keen for them to speak and meet beforehand. She’s always had a close bond with Harry and would love a resolution.
“Meghan wants the feud to be healed too. Especially with another baby on the way. They both want what’s best for the families and both tried to play peacemaker at the start of the tension.”
7.15pm update: Harry to take paternity leave as Meghan ‘makes a point’ with break from work
Prince Harry is set to take paternity leave as Meghan Markle “makes a point” of taking a break from working life, according to a royal commentator.
Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight Meghan’s second pregnancy will be different from her first as the Duchess of Sussex will put a greater emphasis on enjoying it rather than focusing on her busy work schedule.
The royal commentator added Harry will take paternity leave and labelled the Duke a “modern dad”.

5.40pm update: Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview could stop Charles becoming King
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview could stop Prince Charles becoming King, a royal expert has sensationally claimed.
Royal author Anna Pasternak told Vanity Fair: “I’m not 100 percent sure that we will see Charles ascend to the throne.
“The Sussexes have sparked something so fundamentally incendiary in this country that it is changing the face of Britain, and I think the monarchy as an archaic institution may well topple.”
She added that “it may be that there is such a groundswell of public opinion against [Charles] that it’s deemed by the firm preferable for William to ascend then because he’s younger, more relatable.”
Meghan and Harry made a series of explosive claims about the royals in the controversial interview, which aired last month.
4.25pm update: Lady Louise Windsor ‘bears a striking resemblance’ to young Queen
Lady Louise Windsor “bears a striking resemblance” to the Queen when she was younger, according to a royal expert.
Royal commentator and the Telegraph’s associate editor Camilla Tominey compared Lady Louise, 17, to a young Princess Elizabeth.
Writing in the Telegraph, Ms Tominey said: “Now 17, Lady Louise bears a striking resemblance to a young Princess Elizabeth, and is said to share something of her character, too.
“She is ‘studious’, according to one insider, ‘a good girl. She’s totally conscientious and straightforward.’
“Not unlike, then, how her granny is said to have been as a girl – modest, sensible and mad about horses.”

2.55pm update: Kate keen to ‘bury hatchet’ in royal row for sake of Archie, George, Charlotte and Louis
Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, was reportedly keen to “bury the hatchet” and mend the rift between the House of Windsor and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for the sake of the little royal cousins, it has been claimed.
Kate is believed to have been concerned about the relationship between her three children and their little cousin Archie in the wake of the split between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family.
The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly wanted to “try to bury the hatchet” with Meghan and Harry even after their interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Royal commentator Camilla Tominey wrote in the Daily Telegraph: “Even after the bombs rained down on the Firm, the Duchess was said to be keen to try to bury the hatchet – also for the sake of two-year-old Archie’s relationship with his cousins, Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five and Prince Louis, two.”
Kate is believed to have been a calming force after Megxit and the split of Meghan and Harry from the Firm.
2.45pm update: Philip’s close relationship with Penny Knatchbull explained: ‘Neither of them gave a damn’
Prince Philip had a very close relationship with one of the surprise attendees at his funeral, Penny Knatchbull – and a biographer said it was clear “neither of them gave a damn” what other people thought of their bond.
Philip’s funeral last Saturday had an exceptionally limited guest list, as current Covid rules mean only 30 people can attend such a gathering.
It was therefore a surprise for some royal watchers when Penny Knatchbull, Countess Mountbatten of Burma, was announced as one of the attendees.
The aristocrat is married to Norton Knatchbull, the eldest child of Philip’s first cousin Patricia Mountbatten.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
2.30pm update: Meghan Markle and Harry’s wreath note details ‘unusual’ – ‘Drawing attention back to them’
The publication of details on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wreath displayed during Prince Philip’s funeral has been described as “unusual” by a royal historian.
Meghan and Prince Harry provided a sentimental tribute to the late Duke of Edinburgh on the day of his funeral.
Much like other members of the Royal Family, the couple sent a beautiful wreath to be displayed at St George’s Chapel.
However, unlike with other royals’ floral tribute, a few publications were given an explanation of the meaningful reason behind the choice of each flower included in the stunning wreath sent by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
These publications did not state whether these details had been provided by the Sussexes’ press office.
Nevertheless, the publication of these details risked drawing the spotlight away from Prince Philip on the day of his funeral, according to royal historian Marlene Koenig.
2.15pm update: Prince Harry red-faced as new job title means ‘penis’ in Japanese – Duke brutally mocked
Prince Harry has been left red-faced as his new “Chief Impact Officer” job title – shortened to CHIMPO in start-up circles – translates to “penis” in Japanese.
The Duke of Sussex landed the new role for the mental health start-up company, BetterUp Inc. back in March this year.
But as the acronym “CHIMPO” has already drawn in mockery in Britain, Harry has been left humiliated as the phrase is Japanese slang for “penis”.
On the Japanese news website, SoraNews24, several people commented on the new acronym, mocking the Duke if he ever travelled to Japan and used the phrase.
Princess Beatrice and Eugenie
1.45pm update: Beatrice and Eugenie ‘hurt’ by Sussexes before Harry’s attempts to ‘park’ disputes
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were said to be “hurt” by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s actions in recent years, which may explain why Prince Harry wanted to “park” any disputes with his cousins for Prince Philip’s funeral.
Harry’s strained relationship with his brother Prince William and his father Prince Charles has been in the spotlight ever since he and Meghan left the Firm last year.
Relations are thought to have worsened after he claimed both were “trapped” in the monarchy last month when speaking to Oprah Winfrey.
However, it’s not clear just how much the last few years have affected Harry’s bond with other members of the Royal Family, including his cousins Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
A source claimed the Duke of Sussex contacted Charles, William, Beatrice and Eugenie before Philip’s funeral to “park” any disputes between them out of respect for the late royal stalwart.
1.30pm update: Queen ‘wants Harry to go’ back to LA before 95th birthday – She ‘can’t stomach more’ drama
The Queen may “want Harry to go” back to America before her birthday, a journalist has claimed.
There is mounting speculation over whether Prince Harry will stay in the UK for the Queen’s 95th birthday on Wednesday or return to LA to his pregnant wife, Meghan Markle.
The Duke of Sussex arrived on the Sunday before the funeral and had been self-isolating at the couple’s former home, Frogmore Cottage, in Windsor.
It was the first time the duke had met up with his family since Harry and Meghan’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, which was broadcast last month, and he was seen chatting with William and Kate after the service.
Britons furious of Meghan Markle wreath leak
1pm update: Britons furious at Meghan Markle ‘PR stunt’ claim over leaked details of funeral wreath
Meghan Markle has been accused of using Prince Philip’s funeral as a publicity stunt as details of the wreath she sent were leaked to the press.
While fans of the Duchess rallied behind her, others have lashed out at Meghan claiming she is “trying to stay in the limelight”.
Prince Philip passed away earlier this month and his funeral took place on Saturday at Windsor Castle.
While the small ceremony saw Prince Harry reunite with his family, Meghan did not attend due to being heavily pregnant.
Now the British public have hit back at the former Suits actress with one person claiming she is no longer “welcome in our country again”.
12.25pm update: Princess Anne admitted she is treated like ‘honorary man’ before Gayle King sexism row
Princess Anne admitted she is treated like an “honorary man” in the Royal Family before Gayle King’s sexism row.
The CBS presenter received backlash after claiming it was a break from tradition for the Princess Royal to walk in Prince Philip’s funeral procession.
Ms King led coverage of the funeral on her network on Saturday and asked Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown why Anne was the only woman walking behind the casket.
Traditionally, men follow the coffin during a funeral procession, but Anne also featured in the Queen Mother’s funeral in 2002.

12pm update: Prince Charles’s status ‘changed overnight’ after Philip’s death – ‘Needs time to think’
Prince Charles’s status within the Royal Family changed overnight following the death of his father Prince Philip, a source said.
Prince Charles has been the heir to the throne for most of his life, with his mother the Queen being crowned when he was only a toddler.
However, the role of patriarch of the House of Windsor remained firmly in the hands of Prince Philip for more than seven decades.
In the wake of his father’s death, Prince Charles has found himself both Prince of Wales and patriarch of the Royal Family.
This change has “impacted him both professionally and personally”, according to a source, who added Prince Charles wanted some time to “reflect alone” following the funeral.
11.45am update: Tom Bradby admitted ‘I’m not one of William’s proper friends’ ahead of ‘pro-Sussex’ claims
Tom Bradby admitted he was not one of Prince William’s “proper friends” before their relationship reportedly broke down over the broadcaster’s supposed support for Prince Harry.
ITV news anchor Mr Bradby formed a close relationship with both William and Harry when he was a royal correspondent.
He is thought to have maintained that bond over the years, and was even handpicked to interview the Cambridges about their engagement back in 2010.
However, there are claims that the broadcaster’s relationship with the Duke of Cambridge has soured in recent months as William and Harry’s rift deepens.
Prince Andrew’s future to be decided
11.20am update: Charles and William thrash out future of monarchy – and there’s no way back for Andrew
Prince Charles will grieve for his father in solitude at his Welsh retreat, following peace talks with sons Prince William and Prince Harry, according to reports.
The Prince of Wales is understood to have left Windsor alone for the peace of his Brecon Beacons cottage in Llwynywermod, Llandovery, a day after the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Charles and William are to map out a new plan for the monarchy after a tumultuous period that ended with Prince Philip’s death.
The heir, 72, departed after meeting his two sons within the grounds of Windsor Castle, where the family made tender steps towards reconciliation following Harry and Meghan’s bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.
However, there has been no official confirmation from Clarence House.

Do you support a revamp of Royal Family after a year of chaos? Vote here.
Prince Charles, who is next in the line of succession, and his eldest son, the Duke of Cambridge, will reportedly hold discussions with the Queen over the coming weeks.
The summit is expected to decide whether the three most senior royals should carry on taking the lead with events or if the Queen, Charles, William should reduce their workload by giving other royals more responsibilities.
The Firm has already lost three members over the last year after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to the US for a new life and the Queen’s second youngest son Prince Andrew also stepped back from duties after causing controversy over his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

10.30am update: Queen will ‘seriously consider’ handing Crown to Charles this week
Queen Elizabeth II will “seriously consider” handing over her Crown to Prince Charles this week, according to a royal insider.
Her Majesty has recently suffered a great loss in her husband Prince Philip, who was laid to rest in Windsor on Saturday.
She is also reaching a new milestone tomorrow ‒ turning 95 years old.
The Queen was giving serious thought to stepping down and handing over her reign to Charles when she turns 95, an insider claimed in 2019.
A former senior member of the Royal Household told royal correspondent Robert Jobson: “Her Majesty is mindful of her age and wants to make sure when the time comes, the transition of the Crown is seamless.
“I understand the Queen has given the matter considerable thought and believes that, if she is still alive at 95, she will seriously consider passing the reign to Charles.”
10.15am update: Sophie Wessex at a loss over call to ‘step into’ post-Megxit breach: ‘What more can I do?’
Sophie, Countess of Wessex, is unlikely to take on more royal duties within the Royal Family, according to a royal expert.
Sophie’s role within the Royal Family grew exponentially during the past two decades, when she left behind her PR career to fully dedicate her time to the Crown and representing the Queen.
And she has been repeatedly touted to become even more prominent within the Firm in the wake of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to step down as senior royals in January 2020.
However, one royal commentator believes it is unlikely there is scope for Sophie to further increase her number of engagements and patronages.

9.20am update: Meghan Markle fans left furious at ‘awful’ prediction ‘she and Prince Harry won’t last’
Meghan Markle fans rallied behind the Duchess of Sussex after claims her and Prince Harry will not last.
Following the funeral of Prince Philip, Lady Colin Campbell claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not last in a scathing attack against Meghan.

However, fans of Meghan took to social media to defend her marriage to Prince Harry with many claiming their relationship will last.
9.10am update: Queen crisis as ‘uniform-gate’ poised to make senior royals regret Harry and Meghan’s exit
The Queen may regret the harsh terms of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal exit after the furore that broke out about uniforms in the run-up to Prince Philip’s funeral, a royal commentator claims.
The Queen dramatically put her foot down just days before her husband’s funeral last week when she prevented any member of the Royal Family from wearing their military uniform.
This was a surprising decision especially considering the pride Philip took in serving during World War 2 with the Royal Navy.
It also provided a stark contrast to the rest of the ceremony, planned by the Duke of Edinburgh, which honoured his military ties.
However, the dress code for the funeral quickly became a thorny issue when Palace aides had to decide what Prince Harry and Prince Andrew would wear.

The Queen has sided with Prince William and Prince Charles due to her disappointment with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after their Oprah Winfrey interview, an insider has claimed.
The Queen was “disappointed with aspects” of Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah, the source said.
The Queen has publicly shown her support and love for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following Meghan and Harry’s departure as full-time working royals.
However, one insider has claimed the sovereign was displeased with some aspects of her grandson and granddaughter-in-law’s two-hour-long chat aired in March.
And, the source added, the Queen stands by Prince Charles and Prince William – whose relationships with Prince Harry were discussed by the Duke of Sussex with Oprah.

The Royal Family gathered to say their final farewell to the Duke of Edinburgh at a funeral service at Windsor Castle on Saturday.
Senior royals walked behind the Land Rover hearse, including Prince Charles and his sons Princes William and Harry, along with Philip’s other children, Princess Anne and Princes Edward and Andrew.
Harry and William were filmed speaking to each other after the funeral and appeared to be on friendly terms as they walked out of St George’s Chapel.
This was reported to be the first time they had seen each other in person since The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.

8.30am update: Are you listening Harry? Duke urged to obey Prince Philip’s motto as royal feud rumbles on
Prince Harry has been warned to follow Prince Philip’s mantra of “don’t talk about yourself” amid an ongoing rift with the Royal Family.
The Duke of Sussex stepped down as a member of the Royal Family last year and moved to California with his wife Meghan Markle.
But the couple, who claimed they wanted a private life, has been widely criticised for various publicity stunts and speaking out against the Firm.
Last month, the couple shocked the world when they sat down with US media mogul Oprah Winfrey.
They made several explosives accusations about their time as members of the Royal Family and sparked a crisis for the Queen and the Firm.
8.15am update: Queen’s brooches: Duchess of Cambridge pearl brooch is named in honour of German princess
Queen Elizabeth II has a vast collection of brooches and is often seen wearing one for a royal engagement.
One of Her Majesty’s most timeless brooches is a pearl pendant brooch that belonged to a previous Duchess of Cambridge – a German princess called Augusta of Hesse-Kessel.
The Queen is never completely dressed without one of her iconic brooches, and even wore one of the largest brooches in her collection to her husband’s funeral on Saturday: the Richmond brooch, inherited by her grandmother, Queen Mary.
Her Majesty also wore her signature pearl necklace and earrings for the funeral.
The Queen is almost never seen without a brooch on her lapel and three strings of pearls around her neck.
Her Majesty is clearly a fan of pearls and has brooches decorated with the jewels too.
