Royal Family news: Queen loses temper with Charles – ‘Putting pride before monarchy!’ | Royal | News
Queen: Experts discuss security breach at Royal Lodge
The Queen is vying for Prince Charles to put aside his differences and repair the rift between his youngest son Prince Harry, sources have claimed. Her Majesty is said to be pleased with Prince William’s “dignified approach” to the family reconciliation and hopes the Prince of Wales will do the same. But the heir to the throne is still understood to be furious at his son for “dragging his name through the mud” during his tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
An insider told Us Weekly: “With the way things are going, Charles may never forgive Harry, which hasn’t gone down well with Elizabeth.
“She feels that he’s putting his pride before the best interest of the monarchy.
“She has enough on her plate dealing with the loss of her husband. It’s drama she can do without.”
By contrast, Prince William is taking steps to heal the rift with his younger brother – something the Queen approves.
The source added: “They’re definitely not at the point where they speak on a regular basis, but William wants to be the bigger person and set a precedent.
The Queen is understood to be furious at her son Prince Charles for “putting pride before monarchy’
“He believes that in order to repair damage and destruction from Harry’s interview, the best approach is to keep things civil with his brother rather than fanning the flames and fighting back with a tit-for-tat attitude.
“Elizabeth is proud of William for taking the dignified approach, unlike Charles, who still hasn’t forgiven Harry for dragging his name through the mud.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s sit-down chat with Oprah aired in March, and saw the couple make a number of incendiary claims against the Royal Family.
They accused an unnamed family member of racism, claimed Meghan was not supported when she was feeling suicidal and claimed their son was denied a royal title.
Harry also said his father and brother, Charles and William, are “trapped” by the institution.

“He’s always known what is expected of him when he’s eventually crowned King.

“And he has times where he and Kate want to drop out of sight so they’ll escape to Cornwall and recharge their batteries.”
9.20pm update: Royal Family must show ‘willingness to be flexible’ to avoid public turning on monarchy
The Royal Family has been warned going forward they must continue to adapt to modernity or risk the public dubbing them irrelevant.
Graham Smith of Republic, royal commentator Anujula Mutanda and former Government Minister Norman Baker reflected on the significance of the Royal Family in modern Britain.
During the royal documentary, The Royal Family: Are they worth it? Ms Mutanda insisted when Prince Charles is King the Royal Family will have to remain flexible in regards to their commitment to the public.
She claimed, by doing this, they would remain in good favour with the public.
However, Mr Smith and Mr Baker argued the Royal Family was no longer relevant and while it is difficult to measure their economic contributions, their royal guidance is not as important as it once was.

Princess Olga replied: “I was told to sit down and shut up and never wash your dirty linen in public, whatever it happens to be. So I think the Queen does it right.”
12.50pm update: Royal yacht was Queen’s escape in event of nuclear attack —but calls against new boat grow
The Queen was supposed to use HMY Britannia in the event of a nuclear attack on Britain – a purpose which may be shared by its alleged replacement, a controversial new royal yacht to be named after Prince Philip.
The new vessel is expected to be a successor to HMY Britannia, the royal yacht which was decommissioned in 1997 as part of a cost-cutting exercise.
The Queen was seen quietly crying at the decommissioning ceremony, demonstrating how the ship had a special place in the Royal Family’s heart.
However, HMY Britannia was not just a sentimental part of royal life but provided a practical safe haven for the monarch and her family.
Papers declassified in 2010 showed that the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Home Secretary were to use the royal vessel if Soviet missiles became a threat to the UK.
Using the “python system” — re-established after the 9/11 attacks — they would hide in sea lochs on the coast of North West Scotland, according to papers explained in Professor Peter Hennessy’s book The Secret State.

“I would imagine that this is the beginning of a long career doing children’s books for Meghan. And, perhaps, testing the waters for other writing in the future.”
Ms Magee agreed: “Well we know she likes to write and she’s very good at it so why not? It’s also in a long tradition of royal authors.

8.08am update: Meghan talks in ‘the style of the Queen’ in first appearance since Oprah, says expert
The Duchess of Sussex appeared in a pre-recorded video message as part of the Global Citizen VAX Live concert.
In the clip, Meghan spoke about the impact that the Covid pandemic was having on women. Judi James told The Sun that the Duchess’ posture and language were both reminiscent of the style of the British monarch.
The body language expert explained: “With the bench she was sitting on looking suspiciously like a plug for her new book, Meghan’s body language at the start looked as serene and static as the large cushion beside her, but with a small self-comfort thumb-rub gesture to suggest some inner nerves, too.
“Hers was a floral-clad, maternal-looking charisma, low on passionate gesticulation and high on kind smiles and bump-cupping.
“The regal note appeared verbally too as she sat, upright and elegant, to refer to ‘My husband and I’ in the style of the Queen, but that cupping gesture that she had also used on Oprah, reminded us of her theme about daughters and women of the future.”
