Trent Alexander-Arnold put on another brilliant performance for Liverpool to stake his claim on a place in England’s European Championship squad.

The right-back starred for the Reds as they beat Manchester United 4-2 at Old Trafford and picked up an assist.

His form in recent weeks has been superb and impressed while England boss Gareth Southgate was watching on in Manchester.

As well as his assist, he created five chances, had four crosses and had four shots, with two on target.

Defensively he was also good with 14 ball recoveries, three clearances and two interceptions.

England are blessed with a wealth of talent in the right-back position with Kyle Walker, Reece James and Kieran Trippier all vying for a place in the squad alongside Alexander-Arnold.

The Liverpool defender was left out of Southgate’s squad in March after a dip in form in the early part of the season.

Since then, he’s been excellent and the England boss has a real decision on his hands over who to take.

On the Sports Bar, Goldstein said: “He’s been sublime. He’s got to be in that England squad now also it has been extended.”

Cundy added: “He wasn’t at his shiny sparkling best, but think he probably will.”

Former England striker Gary Lineker added his voice to conversation about Alexander-Arnold’s status ahead of this summer’s tournament.

He wrote on Twitter: “Well, this game has certainly confirmed @TrentAA’s place in the England squad. Seems ridiculous that it could ever be in doubt. Best player on the pitch in front of the watching Gareth Southgate.”
