Tyson Fury announced Anthony Joshua fight date and then attended WWE event where he met Vince McMahon
Having announced his excitement at the prospect of ‘smashing Anthony Joshua’, Tyson Fury relaxed by watching live wrestling.
The WBC heavyweight champion joined Vince McMahon and co. in Tampa to see pay-per-view event WrestleMania Backlash after telling the world he will fight Joshua for all the belts in August.
The Brits will collide in Saudi Arabia on August 14 with all the heavyweight gold on the line to determine the one true undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
Fury posted pictures of his son meeting WWE chairman McMahon and he took a snap with Rey Mysterio who made some history with his own son by winning the SmackDown Tag Team titles on the same night.
Fury has history with WWE and says he would have performed at WrestleMania 36 if it wasn’t for the pandemic.
Fury did make his WWE debut in 2019 when he took on Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia mere months before he dethroned Deontay Wilder.
The boxer also revealed WWE wanted to have him headline a UK pay-per-view against first-ever British-born WWE champion Drew McIntyre and the pair have kept their rivalry up over the past year.
It makes sense that McMahon would welcome Fury with open arms to a WWE event and it seems Saudi Arabia will be welcoming him, too.
“I’ve got some massive news for you all guys,” Fury told his millions of social media followers on Sunday.
“I’ve just got off the phone from Prince Khalid of Saudi Arabia, he’s told me this fight’s 100 per cent on.
“August 14, 2021 – summertime. All eyes of the world will be on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“I cannot wait, repeat, cannot wait to smash Anthony Joshua on the biggest stage of all times.
“This is gonna be the biggest sporting event ever to grace the planet Earth.
“Do not miss it, all eyes on us.”
According to ESPN, the site fee that’s been agreed is $155 million with both Fury and Joshua collecting $75 million no matter what. The other $5 million is spent on the undercard and expenses.
Fury is in America preparing for the unification fight and flew to Texas to watch friend Billy Joe Saunders in action against Canelo then trained with UFC veteran Nick Diaz and later took time out to visit David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
