UFC icon Khabib Nurmagomedov gets Kylian Mbappe’s shirt after watching PSG thrash Barcelona with Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani
UFC icon Khabib Nurmagomedov left the Nou Camp with the perfect souvenir on Tuesday night: Kylian Mbappe’s shirt.
The Russian fighter watched on from the stands as Mbappe’s scintillating hat-trick helped Paris Saint-Germain put one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals with a 4-1 victory at Barcelona.
Khabib, who recently vacated his lightweight title by quitting the UFC, boasts Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk as mates – and watched the match with Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani.
It would appear he’s also quite pally with Mbappe, managing to get his hands on perhaps the most special shirt of the Frenchman’s domestic career.
Having earlier shared videos of Radrizzani showing him Leeds clips, Khabib took to Instagram after the match to show off the jersey, addressed to him with a message from Mbappe.
It says a lot about the PSG superstar, who has already won four Ligue 1 titles and a World Cup aged 22, that he would give away a shirt from such a memorable occasion.
Meanwhile, Khabib has plans to play alongside his new friend one day, having recently revealed a conversation with PSG’s ownership about trying a professional football career.
He told Match TV: “To play football on a professional level is a childhood dream. Of course, I have such a wish. Football is the king of sports after all.
“Who haven’t I discussed this with! I’ve spoken even with the UEFA president Aleskandr Ceferin, with the owner of PSG, yes and even with Cristiano Ronaldo.”
However, there are still hopes Khabib will return to the UFC, where he is considered one of the greatest ever fighters, to defend his crown.
