Norwich City academy graduate Todd Cantwell knows all to well about the talents of De Bruyne and co.

On the subject of Manchester City’s excellence he told talkSPORT: “They’re an incredible team. Honestly, from every position they are covered.

“You don’t need me to tell you guys, you see it every week as well. Some of the one-two passing, the speed of thought with those guys – they all look like they’re on the same channel.

“When they’re at it, it’s frightening what they can do.”

Among a star-studded line-up Kevin De Bruyne, one of the world’s best midfielders, has more than played his part in a potential treble-winning team.

De Bruyne has once more endured his fair share of injury woes but despite that Tottenham’s Harry Kane is the only player with more assists than the Belgian’s 11, despite only featuring in 24 matches, underlining the quality he possesses.

The Canaries have fond memories of facing De Bruyne and co on home soil, producing a stunning display to beat the then defending champions 3-2 at Carrow Road in September 2019.

It was an altogether different story at the Etihad ten months later though, with Cantwell relayed a brilliant anecdote from a 5-0 drubbing – with De Bruyne at the double – the already relegated Canaries were on the end of.

He explained: “I remember the away fixture which wasn’t that successful, it honestly felt like it was a FIFA game that he had put the difficulty to ‘easy’ on.

“That’s the best way I can describe it, he was doing exactly what he wanted to do.

“Honestly I don’t think there was anything anyone could have done that day, when a player like that has got those tools – I don’t think you can stop him when he’s going.”
